I like the aesthetics of the #NewAClass @MercedesBenz, I tend to select test cars firstly on how they look, mainly as i’m an artist who creates visual paintings. I wanted to be a car designer, my uncle was, and is an engineer - though I’m not programmed that way, I’m a bit messy and leave lids off pens.
But I do like design, and as much as I will never design a car, I have created many paintings of ones over 6 years - some pretty, some mean, some blue, some luxury, some with great lines - to me this sums up the Mercedes Benz A 220 BlueEfficiency AMG Sport.
I had the A 220 AMG Sport for 10 days whilst I was creating at the British Grand Prix, and wherever I got out of it complete strangers asked me questions about it, it was liked for it’s striking blue colour, sporty appearence and crisp lines - it looks very different to the previous A Class models from the brand too.
The sleek looks continued inside, with leather seats, chromed air vents, carbon fibre-esque dashboard, beautifully finished with red embroidery. This model also had the AMG Sport suspension and 7G-DCT 7 speed Auto gearbox, which I found brilliantly responsive when driving the back route between Silverstone and the Midlands.
The only inside feature I was unsure of at first was the integrated satnav which sits prominently on the centre console, but over time, I got used to it, and to be honest, I’m not sure where else it would go... To me, Mercedes is a premium brand and this is a serious car, but it’s a seriously good car to experience too.
